Reviews

The UGREEN EP106 (35756) are premium wired semi-in-ear earphones with a USB-C connector — delivering the largest driver in UGREEN's wired earphones lineup at 14.2mm, a professional-grade Knowles HD microphone, an aluminium alloy sound chamber, and an extended 20Hz–40kHz frequency response — all in a lightweight semi-in-ear design built for all-day wearing comfort. For users who find fully sealed in-ear earphones uncomfortable during extended use, the EP106's semi-in-ear design provides hours of fatigue-free wearing while the 14.2mm driver and aluminium chamber deliver acoustic performance that exceeds what the EP105's 10mm driver can achieve.

14.2MM DYNAMIC DRIVER — THE LARGEST IN UGREEN'S WIRED EARPHONE RANGE

The EP106's 14.2mm dynamic driver is 42% larger in diameter than the EP105's 10mm driver — a significant acoustic engineering difference with direct impact on sound quality. A larger driver diaphragm moves more air volume per excursion, producing:

- Deeper, more impactful bass extension without distortion at high volume

- Fuller, more natural midrange body with greater vocal and instrument presence

- Cleaner high-frequency reproduction with reduced resonance artefacts

- A wider perceived soundstage — the increased driver excursion area creates more convincing stereo separation between left and right channels

The 14.2mm driver's extended frequency response of 20Hz–40kHz — reaching twice the standard 20kHz upper limit — captures ultrasonic harmonic content from Hi-Res Audio recordings, delivering additional air and overtone detail that 20kHz-limited earphones cannot reproduce.

ALUMINIUM ALLOY SOUND CHAMBER — ACOUSTIC RESONANCE CONTROL

The aluminium alloy sound chamber surrounding the 14.2mm driver provides precise internal acoustic geometry — controlling resonance and frequency reflection within the housing to reinforce bass body, maintain midrange clarity, and suppress housing-generated colouration. Aluminium's rigidity eliminates the flex vibration that plastic housings introduce at high volumes, and its thermal conductivity dissipates driver-generated heat efficiently — maintaining consistent acoustic performance during extended listening sessions. CNC precision manufacturing ensures consistent chamber dimensions across production units.

SEMI-IN-EAR DESIGN — EXTENDED WEAR WITHOUT PRESSURE FATIGUE

Unlike fully sealed in-ear earphones that create an acoustic seal within the ear canal, the EP106's semi-in-ear design rests at the canal entrance without insertion — providing a naturally comfortable fit for extended continuous use during commutes, workdays, and gym sessions. The lightweight semi-in-ear housing distributes weight across the outer ear rather than concentrating it at the canal — eliminating the canal pressure and occlusion fatigue that makes fully sealed earphones uncomfortable after extended wear. The ergonomic housing shape follows the natural contour of the outer ear for a secure, stable fit without silicone tip dependency.

KNOWLES HD MICROPHONE — PROFESSIONAL-GRADE VOICE CAPTURE

The EP106 is equipped with a Knowles HD microphone — a component from Knowles Corporation, the global leader in professional balanced armature and MEMS microphone manufacturing. Knowles microphones are used in professional hearing aids, recording equipment, and premium consumer earphones — delivering significantly higher sensitivity, lower self-noise, and more accurate frequency response than generic ECM microphone capsules used in standard earphones. The Knowles HD mic captures voice with precision while actively filtering background noise — producing clear, natural call audio in office, commute, and outdoor environments.

3-BUTTON INLINE CONTROLLER — COMPLETE MEDIA & CALL MANAGEMENT

The in-line 3-button controller provides full hands-free management:

- Volume up button: Increase playback volume

- Volume down button: Decrease playback volume

- Centre MFB (single press): Play / Pause

- Centre MFB (double press): Skip to next track

- Centre MFB (triple press): Return to previous track

- Centre MFB (long press): Activate voice assistant (Siri, Google Assistant)

- Centre MFB (incoming call): Answer

- Centre MFB (active call): End call

FLAT TPU CABLE — TANGLE-FREE, DURABLE

The EP106's flat TPU cable design prevents tangling during pocket storage and bag carry — the flat geometry naturally separates cable strands without the twisting and knotting that round cables develop during movement. TPU material is soft, flexible, and highly resistant to cable fatigue at bend points — surviving thousands of flex cycles without internal conductor fracture or outer jacket cracking. The 1.2m cable length provides sufficient reach for pocket-to-ear and laptop-to-ear connections without excess slack.

20Hz–40kHz FREQUENCY RESPONSE — HI-RES AUDIO RANGE

The EP106's 20Hz–40kHz frequency response extends to twice the standard 20kHz upper limit — covering the full range of Hi-Res Audio recordings and capturing ultrasonic harmonic content that contributes to the perceived air, openness, and naturalness of high-resolution music. At the bass end, 20Hz extension reaches the lower limit of human hearing — ensuring complete reproduction of sub-bass content in electronic music, film soundtracks, and bass-heavy recordings.

32Ω IMPEDANCE — OPTIMISED FOR DIRECT DEVICE DRIVE

The 32Ω impedance is matched to USB-C audio output levels on smartphones, tablets, and laptops — providing adequate volume and driver control without requiring an external amplifier or DAC. Plug directly into any USB-C audio device for immediate, full-quality playback.
