Undoubtedly, the LG 27UP850-W main highlight is its 96-watt USB-C port. You also get DisplayPort 1.4 and dual HDMI 2.0, but the USB-C port enables single operation with the latest laptops. Your peripherals and audio equipment can also be connected to the two USB 3.0 ports and the 3.5mm jack.

LG 27UP850-W features speakers with a 5-watt output, which is another upgrade we enjoyed. The built-ins are capable of decent volume, excellent clarity, and some semblance of bass compared to other built-ins. There will always be better sound from headsets and desktop speakers, but having improved monitor speakers on the side is helpful as well.

Unlike most IPS panels, the backlight has a maximum intensity of 400 cd/m2, while the contrast ratio is listed at 1200:1. HDR 400 certification means this model can display HDR 400 content, but it only permits limited contrast and dynamic range.

Due to their higher pixel density, 27-inch 4K screens are not always ideal because they reduce legibility and visibility. In contrast to a lower resolution screen, games, movies, and images are sharper and more detailed looking. The workspace is also larger, but it can be difficult to work efficiently if you need to scale and open several windows simultaneously.
